Abu Sayyaf captured in Zamboanga City
Soldiers and policemen captured A composite group of soldiers and policemen captured Friday in Zamboanga City a member of the Abu Sayyaf Group who is wanted for the abduction and massacre of plantation workers in 2001 in Lamitan, Basila, said Crame spokesman Chief Supt. Generoso Cerbo Jr.
He said Jailani Baserol alias Bas/Angkig was arrested at around 7 a.m. at his hideout along Valderoza Street.
The suspect has two warrants for kidnapping and serious illegal detention issued by Presiding Judges Banilo Bucoy and Leo Principe of the 9th Judicial Region, both in Isabela City.
Records show that Baserol was among bandits who abducted and then killed workers of the Tahiran Rubber Plantation in Lamitan.
A joint circular of the Department of National Defense and Department of Interior and Local Government put up P600,000 reward for his capture.
“He is detained at the Regional Intelligence Unit for medical examination and questioning.
